Hi, my name is Wendy Unsworth. I have written three novels as well as a series of chapter books for children. At present I am working on the fourth book in my Berriwood Series. These are all stand-alone psychological thrillers with a shared theme of the quintessential, sleepy Cornish village where anything can and will happen!
I was born in Lincolnshire on the east coast of England but have been lucky enough to call several places home, including Ndola in northern Zambia and Nairobi in Kenya. After thirteen years in Africa I returned to England and settled into an eighteenth century Cornish cottage with my family, including a cat called Duma and an Old English Sheepdog called Rafiki – both named with our love of Africa in mind!
These days the beautiful Edinburgh area of Scotland and the wilds of the Portuguese Alentejo are home.
Like most authors, I have a lifelong love of books and reading and was writing articles and short stories long before my first full length novel was published.
On this site I’m hoping to showcase my books and also to share the work of the wonderful authors I’m currently reading or have read. Books, books, books – so many to enjoy! So many to talk about. I am in awe of the fantastic book bloggers I follow; if only I could read as fast as even half of them.
In my non-writing life, (What? I hear you writers say, is there such a thing as spare time?) I still love to be creative; home, garden and to follow the ideals that are dear to me. I would like to talk about these things from time to time too.
Helping me in my endeavours is Cleopatra, who I adopted at the ripe old age of about five weeks. Cleo knows nothing of the writing world but already she is showing a willingness to learn by walking across my keyboard and stalking my fingers as I attempt to find the right words. When Cleo is not writing she likes to chase a fabric ball or work on her masterclass which is in the art of snoozing…
Hi Wendy,
Goodness, you have been a very busy writer! Congratulations on your books and here’s hoping all will be a smashing success. Thanks again for following and I look forward to our conversations. @sheilamgood at Cow Pasture Chronicles

Cleo is lovely and just the right sort. My own two divas are Colette and Simone. Colette was six months old when she rescued me at the SPA while Simone was three years when she joined in the rescue efforts three months later.

Thank you Léa! Cleo is six months old now and quite a bit bigger than the picture. I must add a few updates, perhaps at Christmas. I just went back to your site to see if I could see your two little ladies but couldn’t find a picture -love you quotes, though!

She is lovely and will be a lot of help. No, I don’t have any photos of the divas on that blog nor even on the other one just yet. There is a cat photo on the other blog along with one of my cat poems. I’m glad if you enjoy some of the quotes as I really enjoy them myself.

Fabulous introduction, Wendy… Loving Cleopatra… Way too cute though, and that spells trouble! 😀 My too little boys, Aragorn & Rico would be furry jealous. 😁

Cleo is 8 months old now – I must update her picture too! She has caused quite some destruction through her early months, broken ornaments, chewed wires etc but as you say somadorable that she is always forgiven! Yours sound like big boys – great names!

I knew it! Devil in disguise and all that. We had ours from tinsy winsy as well. Aragorn has broken endless vases to wifey’s dismay (grin) But daddy always came to the rescue with loves and cuddles during and after the initial panic sessions. I wouldn’t have had it any other way. 😀

Hi Keith and thank you! I look forward to following your blog, too. Congratulations on the book! As I have stated a few times this year, I don’t have a huge amount of technical knowledge to share but I will be trying to support fellow blogger/authors by reading their books and trying to get the word out with honest reviews. I would be more than happy to read your book but it may take a while -there is a list!

No worries. I appreciate that. What is the best way for me to get you a copy? Amazon e-book gift certificate ? Hard copy?

A gift certificate for an ebook would work well for me. A verified purchase is always best! Will get to it when I can Keith but can’t make any promises when. Hope you are getting good sales. Best wishes.

You have a great blog – and an unusual and beautiful cat! (I’ve never seen a white cat with a stripy tail before). Glad you followed me and glad to follow back. 🙂

Hi Annabelle, thanks so much for following back I hope we can enjoy each other’s posts for a long time to come. I adopted Cleopatra (Cleo) last July, just a tiny stray with no Home to go to! Now she is much bigger. I must post some new photos. I looked her up because of her unusual colouring and she is very much like the Turkish Van cat – google it, amazing! What makes me think she is at least part related is that she loves water and will happily dip her paws in – apparently this breed is very keen on water! Best wishes.

You have such an interesting background. I’m not sure what I find more intriguing…all those years living in Africa or the 18th century English cottage 🙂
And then, of course, there is Cleopatra. She is soooo adorable! My husband and I recently adopted a black cat (Raven) but she has quickly grown past kitty size. I love LOVE cats! 🙂

Thanks so much for following Mae Clair. Yes, I have been lucky to do many interesting things. Although writing is my main focus I would like to expand my blog to share some of those experiences. I adore cats too! Cleopatra is now much bigger and is a lovely companion- I must post some more photos. Raven is a great name – I love that!
